The country is located on the Balkan Peninsula, bordering the Adriatic Sea. It has an ancient history and culture. Its territory was inhabited by the Illyrians. It was later joined to the Roman and Byzantine Empire. In the seventh century its lands are occupied by the Slavs, who assimilated the local population. The country was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in the fifteenth century. It was occupied by Austrians, Italians, and Germans. Montenegro has been the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, and later of Yugoslavia. Since 2006 it is an independent state.

Its aim is to attract fresh money and make the market competitive to the Italian Adriatic coast.
